Dr Giovanni Battista Marcon was born in Aviano (PN ) Italy March 15th 1961.
He graduated in Medicine at PAdua University in 1985 and specialized in Ophthalmology ( full marks and Laude) at the same University in 1989 .
He worked for about 10 years in the Ophthalmological Department of the Bassano del Grappa Public Hospital and then in 2000 became Head of the Ophthalmological department in the Public Hospital of Gorizia-Monfalcone (Italy).
In 2010 he left the Gorizia Hospital and founded the “Strabismus and Diplopia Centre” in Bassano del Grappa (Italy) of which he is the Director .
Dr Marcon is an Ophthalmic Surgeon. He performed in his career more than 18.000 thousands Cataract surgeries, hundreds of Glaucoma surgeries , Retinal detachment surgeries and thousands of Strabismus surgeries.
Since 2010 he dedicated full time to the diagnosis and treatment of Child and Adult strabismus .
He has been Secretary and President of the Italian Strabismological Association.
He serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the European Strabismological Association (ESA) and of the International Pediatric Ophthalmology Strabismus Council (IPOSC) .
Dr Marcon has participated as speaker in hundreds of National and International Meetings . In many Meetings has performed surgeries ( live surgeries ) mainly for Cataract and Strabismus Surgeries.
From 1994 to 2010 he has been Head and Surgeon of the “Eye Rural Screening “ at the North Kinangop Hospital in Naivasha (Kenia). For 15 years he went to Kenia twice a year for humanitarian purposes .
Dr Marcon is Author and Coauthor of more than 100 scientific papers and coauthor of 2 books in Italian . He has been lecturer in many Strabismological Societies in Europe
