
Constanta Nascutzy graduated the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” in Bucharest, and she worked initially as a consultant in Ophtalmology and later on as a consultant in Ophthalmo-paediatrics in the National Institute for Mother and Child Health “Alessandrescu – Rusescu” (NIMCH). Here, in 2002 she initiated the National ROP screening and treatment Programme supported by MoH and WHO, which she coordinated for over 12 years. She trained ophthalmologists from various centres in Romania, in ROP screening and treatment.
In 1993 she worked as a visiting paediatric ophthalmologist in the Institut National d’Ophthalmologie Quinze-Vingts.
In 2005 she benefitted from an ROP WHO supported fellowship - “Vision 2020 Programme”, in Regensburg, under the guidance of Prof. Birgit Lorenz.
In 2005 she co-initiated an ROP and paediatric ophthalmology telemedicine programme; a very useful exchange of information between professionals in Romania, Europe and the US helped provide better care for Romanian children.
Dr. Nascutzy is a member of the RSO, RSSOP, and EPOS. She has authored papers in the field of ROP, and presented the results of her work at national and international congresses.
After retiring from her activity in the NIMCH, she left behind a new generation of young opthalmologists who continue her work, whilst she is active in private practice.
